Books on my shelf : Special education
A friend had posted about her nephew who is believed to have ADD.  I recommended a book by Dr. Norm Forman called Exceptional Children - Ordinary Schools.  It does a great job of breaking down the steps that need to happen to get a student identified with special needs and explains why identification is vital.  I know that there are many families that don't want their child to have a label but the fact is that without the identification the school is not legally required to support or accomodate a student.  The education act actually stipulates the it is the responsibility of the parents/guardians of a special needs student to advocate for the student.
