We woke up the other morning to discover that this had happend to the canopy on our swing in the backyard.
Based on the paw and claw marks we suspect that a racoon discovered that the canopy was not an ideal place to land. Despite living in a residential area of the city we do seem to see an awful lot of wildlife around including: racoons, skunks (on the front porch a couple of nights ago), moles, shrews, field mice and many different kinds of birds.
That happened to our shade tent a few years ago - also in the fall. It was squirrels! We had the windows open on a nice day, and heard a ripping sounds. Looked out back, and squirrels were tearing strips out of the roof of the tent. It was a few years old, and I guess it was sun-rotted enough that they could get a good grip and start ripping!
ReplyDeleteWe have seen the coons around the yard and in the tree on the other side a few times. This hole looks like someone landed and went right through.
ReplyDeleteSince the rest of the swing is intact we may try to get the canopy replaced.
